For the upcoming presidential elections in Turkey, the only candidate to stand for president was Mr. Abdullah Gul. Most recently Mr.Gul has withdrawn his name just after the parliament beheld a failure in its attempts to vote him into presidential office. Abdullah Gul, who belongs to the ruling Justice and Development Party and is a senior member there, elucidated his disapproval about the prospect of a second-round vote.
