What is the most popular brand of electric generator in South Africa?
Great question.The current most popular generator is the perkins.They have a long engine life and are very reliable. I know this because I want to export generators to south africa as there is a massive shortage for anything over 200kva.I phoned a company in jhb called fg wilson and there was a 26 week waiting period. I phoned lots of farmers in the western cape region for a bit of research and 80% wanted perkins, 11% wanted caterpillar, 5% wanted john deer and the rest had names like cummings,fg wilson, deutz, volvo , etc. You are able to run two average farms from a 350kva generator. You don’t state what you need the generator for. The cat’s are fantastic machines but the only problem is part prices.They are quite expensive. The best all round generator for homes, etc in my opinion will be the honda, as parts are widely available and it’s a trusted brand.
