What is the most poisinous snake in the world?
There are no poisonous snakes. Poison is a toxin which is harmful when ingested or absorbed through the skin. Certain snakes are venomous – venom is a toxin which is harmful when injected into the bloodstream. The snake with the most toxic venom is the fierce snake, also called the inland taipan, of Australia, but because it lives in largely uninhabited areas, bites are rare. I don’t know why so many people seem to think it’s the black mamba – this is indeed a dangerous snake in that it’s venomous and aggressive enough to bite readily if it feels threatened, but in terms of the toxicity of its venom, it doesn’t even make the top ten.
