what is the most Performance Appraisals methods suitable for Telecommunication industrial?
There are certain components of a good performance appraisal that drive performance regardless the industry. Remember, performance management is a process, not an event. To have an effective performance appraisal, it should reflect back on clear expectations, typically in form of goals and behavior stadards that are aligned to the company values. These expectations must have been communicated in the beginning of the performance management process, not at the time of the appraisal. During the performance appraisal, the direct manager gives feedback on goal achievement and the demonstration of the expected behaviors – where you shine and where you have room for improvement. A typical third component is discussion on the next year’s development plan and potentially the longer term career plan. This discussion can be done at the same time with the performance appraisal or separately. Both approaches have pros and cons. To summarize: Goals – Results achieved – Feedback (can include ratings)
