I have other values but the one that is most definitely the most important is what I call Honor. As in “that fellow has no honor”. Honor consists of keeping your word, of keeping your appointments, of being as fair as possible regardless of your personal feelings, not cheating or stealing from someone, and being faithful to those that depend on you. Sounds like I got most of the ten commandments into that one but Honor to me, is what is now, an old fashioned concept of being responsible for yourself. I don’t mind to make myself look as good as I can on a resume or a vita as long as I don’t lie and I am not going to air my dirty linens in public (lesson #2 from my mother — #1 was onward and upward in response to any negative incident). But it is essential to my trust in someone. Many times in business and in professional life, I meet the operators –those greedy, power-hungry, unprincipled individuals who wish to appear honorable.
