There is wisdom in casting the Laws of the Game as one single unit. They form a complete foundation upon which to build a fair and safe competition. One that may be enjoyed by almost anyone at almost any age and at almost any skill level. From the “busy” U-6 match where the ball cannot be seen through the forest of little legs to the swift, powerful and elegantly played match that may be a World Cup final, the game is predicated upon a common understanding that has as its basis the Laws of the Game. This spare and inspired set of restrictions and their interpretation permits the true stars of the game, the players, to emerge and show themselves. Permits them and those who follow the Game to derive a maximum of joy and satisfaction for having participated in something as large and as encompassing as Soccer (or Football), none of which is possible without the commonality of the Laws of the Game to bind participants together.
