What is the most important issue facing the environment today ?
I see the environment as a global issue. One world = one environment. Habitat is environment and all creatures need a habitat to call their own, a part of the world to live in with their own kind. And we (humans) are taking away other creatures habitats for our own use and those creatures are becoming endangered or even extinct. It’s only a matter of time if we carry on along this road before the list of creatures in existence becomes shorter and shorter until the only creature left is the human. Then we become top of the endangered list – one step away from extinction.
I would like to believe that it is the attitude of people living today whose minds have been affected the extravagance in lifestyle, or the expectations of such extravagance as is normally enjoyed by affluent societies of the West. In the West people are getting better informed about environmental issues. They are gathering themselves round their agendas, in their actions groups of in their localities. There is almost shift in the way of thinking and behaving when it comes to the matters of preservation of environment. In schools we never thought children would be learning about green energy issues, waste disposal methods, and pollution. I the it is the people of previous decades who have much to answer for and much to change about their ways of thinking and the ways of living. They still might find it hard to imagine as how to limits their needs and expectations of the mother earth.
