What is the most important event that Californians should know about?
Hard to say. I would say the event that had the most impact on the state would either be the gold rush or World War II. Perhaps the most useful thing for us to study, however, is the vicious racism that has marred the state’s history. As the state grows ever more diverse, we must remember not to let such things happen again.
