What is the most important advice you can share with a meeting or event planner regarding the use of entertainment?
Dont leave the entertainer out-of-the-loop of professionals involved in shaping your event. Entertainment can go a long way in helping you meet the objectives of your event; so, dont treat it as an afterthought. Make sure the entertainer or bandleader knows why youre holding the event; who the guests are; where the event is being held and for how long; and exactly what you expect of them. If its musical entertainment, discuss and review the type and style(s) of music to be played. Discuss breaks and the pacing of your event. Understand their contract; and familiarize yourself both with their responsibilities and your responsibilities regarding load-in, setup time, “Green Room”, food and beverage, ground transport, etc.
