What is the most effective way to learn how to sew?
Basically, all sewing is weaving a thread in and out of two or more layers of fabric in order to join them together. That’s all, nothing more. Whether it be hand stiching or sewing by machine, the most effective way to learn how to sew is to start sewing! Of course, you’ll need a few items to start, depending on the method you have chosen. If by hand, you’ll need a sewing needle, thread, and fabric. If by machine, then yes, you’ll need to purchase a sewing machine. It need not be state-of-the-art with all the bells and whistles, nor does it need to be expensive. All it needs to be able to do are basic stitches (straight stitch and maybe even zig-zag) Again, you’ll need thread and fabric upon which to practice. Now, practice, practice, practice! Practice makes perfect! Knowledge, on the other hand, is a completely different answer and approach when learning how to sew.
