The most controversial subject by far is the raging debate over why the chicken crossed the road. There are many theories put forward by academics and laymen alike, including “to see what was on the other side”, “who cares?”, “because the tomato said katch-up” and “because he wanted to walk down the sunny side of the pavement, it’s ever so chilly in the shade sometimes even if you’ve got feathers isn’t it, you think you don’t need a sweater when you go out but by heavens you wish you’d brought one when the sun pops back behind the clouds for a second”. All these arguments have great validity and far be it for me to choose between them, especially since supporters of a particular argument tend to defend it tooth and nail in the face of criticism and alternative viewpoints – a recent study showed that most injuries in casualty on a Friday night were caused by arguments on this topic, so you will have to deduce my own viewpoint for yourself, I’m not saying.
