What is the mortality rate for last 40 years?
At this time the Health Department is unable to provide cancer mortality rates for the past 40 years in Shelby County or for the Review Focus Area. The Tennessee Cancer Registry was not established until 1983 to collect and gather data concerning cancer incidence, stage at diagnosis, first course of treatment, and deaths due to cancer. No data exists for the time before the law required doctors to report this information to the cancer registry.
