Answer The Church’s stance on birth control is that we are not to use it. The reason is because it is our job to populate the world. Numerous spirit children are waiting to come to earth, and it is our job to help the Lord’s plan progress. I’m not sure if there are any exceptions, but there most likely are. I know that in some instances, abortion can be approved, especially if the birth of the child would put the mother’s life in danger. If having a child will put someone’s life on the line, chances are, contraceptives would be acceptable. If someone were to use birth control, though, I don’t think it would be grounds for excommunication or anything. And not everyone in the church is opposed to it. I’m a firm believer that people should have children when they are ready, so I am not against the use of birth control, but I’m sure I am in the vast minority. I hope this helps.
