What is the moon Callisto like?
Callisto is the name of a moon of Jupiter that is surprising compared to many others. The surprise is that this moon has little interest at all – it is what would be described as dead, in geological terms. It has a frozen water ocean on top, and has many craters meaning that the surface has been like that for an awfully long time. Jupiter has very little influence on the planet hence little goes on there, and apart from impacts it is thought precious little has happened to the satellite for an astonishing 4.5 billion years!
