You could make a model of a city, of course, but you could also choosse something like “brick” or “nail” or “beam” or “pipe” or something more basic and you’d have a less overwhelming project. Even individual proteins are some of the most complicated molecules known to man, not to mention a whole conglomeration of different ones. Things like skin, wood, milk, blood, dirt, etc are very complicated mixtures of things.
