What is the Modular Modeling System (MMS) and what happened to it?

MoWS is trying to move away from MMS. MMS was originally developed as a Unix application and as such, the MMS graphical user interface relied heavily on the Motif and X windows library. Since MMS was ported to Windows operating systems several years ago, we have been unable to figure out a stable way to deal with these libraries. Finally, the decision was made to strip the GUI out of MMS and implement it in Java. We are in the process of transitioning all of our non-Unix users over. The PRMS2008 model itself remains in C and Fortran.
