What is the Mitroflow Aortic Pericardial Heart Valve made of?
The Mitroflow valve is constructed from a single piece of bovine pericardium mounted on the outside of the sent to allow unimpeded leaflet opening and blood flow. The valve’s sewing ring is made from silicone elastomer and is injected with tungsten powder to achieve radiopacity. The stent is made from acetal homopolymer, selected for its low “creep” properties. The stent covering is made from a knit polyester and the valve leaflets are made using zero-pressure fixation to preserve the natural collagen of the leaflets for improved stability.
