What is the mission of the Stepfamily Foundation?
“Our mission and vision for American families is that they become educated to the Lofas Management System of how to make the family work harmoniously: How not to fight, how to get through the big issues, and even how to agree to disagree. The most important thing we do is to teach couples who disagree to disagree with respect for one another’s point of view. They learn with us how to argue positively, how to discuss without negativity, and, mostly importantly, how to reach an agreement on the management of their new stepfamily. My hope is that all of our institutions – schools, churches, businesses – recognize that the stepfamily is a very different kind family. So often what goes on in a stepfamily is treated like pathology. It is not. What we do is teach our couples how to elegantly manage and learn the dynamics of a stepfamily, which most of us do not yet understand. When you know the dynamics, everything has an answer. There is a way to manage a family, no matter what is going on.
