What is the mission of the DAAS?
The DAAS provides an arena in which students learn to critically examine, analyze, interpret and affect the history, experiences, traditions, and contributions of peoples of African descent. The curriculum stresses the skills necessary to think critically, write clearly, argue persuasively, and problem-solve effectively. Our goal is to prepare our students to take roles of effective agency and leadership in the intellectual, service, and social activist domains of professional and community life.
