The two men aboard the 36-foot green and white boat set sail from Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay Wednesday afternoon and were reported missing Thursday by friends and relatives, who grew concerned when no one had heard from them. The Coast Guard commenced a search, sending a helicopter and C-130 Hercules long-range search plane to scour the sea from the San Mateo coast to Monterey for the sailboat.
