What is the minimum wage in Saskatchewan?
Most employees are entitled to at least a minimum payment (“minimum call-out” pay) every time their employer requires them to report for work (other than for overtime), even if it turns out there is no work for them. Minimum call-out pay is $25.80 as of May 1, 2008 and $27.75 as of May 1, 2009. If you do work, you must be paid either the minimum call-out pay or your regular wages for the time worked, whichever is greater. Minimum Call-out does not apply to: • a school student in regular attendance during the school term • a janitor • a caretaker • a building cleaner • a noon-hour supervisor employed by a board of education as defined in The Education Act, 1995 or by a conseil scolaire as defined in that Act • a person employed to operate a vehicle that is: • registered pursuant to The Vehicle Administration Act • used as a school bus for the transportation of students to and from a school as defined in The Education Act, 1995.
