What is the minimum resolution to get good quality prints?
The following is an revamp of my previous offering………. If you have scanned the photographs at even a modest resolution, you will already have images which can be printed to good result. Bear in mind that each time you change and resave the scans, the resolution degrades. So, before re-scanning your pics, take the original *.JPG or *.TIF scan results along to one of the larger supermarket stores and get some test prints done. Any good ones should be rescanned at the highest resolution possible and the results transferred to disk. The whole job can probably be done for the cost of a fancy sandwich. Regarding how a picture looks on screen – yes, the print will be at least as good as the screen results, colour differences aside. Why not download a copy of ‘GIMP’ and see your pictures properly – you may even be able to make some improvements.
