What Is the Minimum Age to Scuba Dive?
PADI, SSI and NAUI are major scuba-certifying agencies that have special standards for including children in dive classes. The minimum age for divers is 10 to 12 years old, and acceptance of junior students is based on the dive center’s and the instructor’s policies. Junior scuba divers and junior open water divers must meet the same knowledge and skills standards as adults. The minimum acceptable age for scuba divers (not junior level) is 15 or 16 years old.
