What is the minimum age for the child to be tested?
There is no minimum age. Testing of an unborn child is also available. Must all samples be drawn at the same time? The identification of each individual being tested is carefully documented at the time of sample collection. Therefore, it is not necessary for all individuals in a case to be present at the same time or location. What if the mother and alleged father live in different states? We can arrange for each individual to submit specimens at a location near where he or she lives. All specimens will be integrated as one case when they arrive at the BRT Laboratories. Do I need a doctors order, an attorney or court order? No, not as long as all the individuals and/or guardians agree to the testing. How much does the test cost? The charge for a routine case (mother, child, alleged father) or one-parent case (child and alleged father only) is $495. Does insurance or Medicaid cover the cost of testing? Generally, no.
