What is the MI 529 Advisor Plan?
The MI 529 Advisor Plan (the “Advisor Program”) is a part of a college savings and investment Program designed to enable residents of the State to save and invest for qualified higher educational expenses of a child or other beneficiary on a tax-favored basis. Although sponsored under the laws of the State of Michigan and intended for residents of the State, the plan is available to all U.S. citizens and resident aliens with a valid Social Security or other taxpayer identification number. The State of Michigan offers three 529 Plans that offer a Michigan Tax Deduction: Michigan Education Trust (MET prepaid plan), Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP Direct Program) and MI 529 Advisor Plan.
