What is the methodology used to compile the rankings?
All available scores over the past three years are included in the formula, meaning 57 individual components go into the ranking (i.e. math, reading, writing and science dating to 2006-07, where applicable). The school’s or district’s score is based on its percentage of students placing in the top two PSSA categories (advanced and proficient). That score is then compared to its departure from the average for the set (i.e. all districts, all 11th grades, the entire state) being compared.
