What is the metacognition or story piece about?
One of the connections we make in Fermi Math is between math and writing. Kids get to practice writing about math just as they are asked to do on some standardized testing (in Minnesota, the MCAs). It is called a “construtcted response.” When students have an opportunity to write about a math solution on a test, they will have practiced this process in Fermi Math! Some districts participate in Fermi Math just to give their students a chance to learn and practice this important skill.
