What is the Merit Systems Protection Board?
The MSPB is an independent quasi-judicial agency, which was established to protect federal merit systems against partisan political and other prohibited personnel practices and to ensure adequate protection for employees against abuses by agency management. As part of its mission, the Board adjudicates employee appeals of personnel actions over which MSPB has jurisdiction, such as removals, suspension, furloughs, and demotions.
