What is the membrane in front of the microphone in a sound recording studio called?
Its not actually a membrane but a fine mesh which is not very effective in stopping sound waves pass, but presumably at one particular frequency it modulates them a bit and thereby reduces certain unwanted sounds. Sufficient to call it a sound filter although the industry has its own jargon for it too..
