This song was written by Linda Perry, christina went to her with a small piano Melody and asked her to write the lyrics for it, she told linda that she wanted it to be about “pain”, linda had six months prior lost her father and ended up writing the entire song music melody and lyrics all about her father, when christina heard it she ended up loving it so much she simply recorded the lyrics and used it on the album
