What is the meaning of rotation on its axis?
Imagine that you can view the earth from the surface of the sun. You would see the earth moving. It is moving in such a way that daylight ‘moves’ around the planet– wherever you are, sometimes it is daylight and sometimes it is night time. The movement you observe would seem to be around an imaginary line going through both the north and the south pole. this is very much like the movement of a top. This spinning around an imaginary line is called rotation.
