What is the meaning of Midcap and Small cap in stock market?
These are terms to denote the market capitalization of the companies. (It is basically the number of shares outstanding x the value of the shares) You can sort of think of them as small, medium and large companies. However, “small cap “companies can be large well know companies (from the individual person perspective). For example, some small cap stocks include: Sybase, inc Jack in the Box Restraunts Devry Tupperware Brands Some mid-cap stocks include: Activision / Blizzard T. Rowe Price American Eagle Kohl’s Western Union They simply aren’t as big as the Mega-companies like General Electric, IBM, etc. so they are “Small” and “Mid” Don’t think of them as small mom and pop stores, however.
