What Is the Meaning of Hawaiian Leis?
Traditional leis of flowers, shells, feathers or vines all hold special meanings, many of which are tied in with Hawaiian myths and legends. Hawaiian folklore states that the very first lei, made of red Lehua flowers was given to the volcano goddess Pele by her sister Hi’iaka, goddess of the hula.
