What is the meaning of engine idling rpm?
In ANY engine,it will have an “idle” speed or rpm. That’s how slow the engine runs without any extra gas applied. When you add more gas, obviously, the engine will then increase power. Different engines have different engine idle speeds. Some of it depends upon how large the engine is, or how small it is. But for transportation vehicles, it’s incredibly important. Because when you run an engine, you are giving off emissions, like carbon dioxide and sulfides which are added to the atmosphere. So the govt regulates or sets standards for idle speeds so that while you’re at a stop light or warming up a car, you don’t give off more gases than needed. Unfortunately, some of those govt standards are not realistic, and the engines run lower than can keep it in good condition,and they stall out sometimes.
