Different engines have different engine idle speeds. Some of it depends upon how large the engine is, or how small it is. But for transportation vehicles, it’s incredibly important. Because when you run an engine, you are giving off emissions, like carbon dioxide and sulfides which are added to the atmosphere. So the govt regulates or sets standards for idle speeds so that while you’re at a stop light or warming up a car, you don’t give off more gases than needed.
