What is the meaning for communication skills?
At its root, communication is about clearly and respectfully articulating our needs and caring enough to listen to and understand the needs of others. Good communication requires two sets of abilities:
- Ability to hear the other person(Receiving – listening).
- Ability to articulate messages accurately (Sending – speaking clearly)
Four key communication skills for improving interpersonal relations are:
- To listen without judgement.
- To comprehand and acknowledge whaths been said
- To acknowledge the other person and their point of view (does not imply aggreement; however it does require recognition of the persona nd their message).
- To not impose your personal beliefs on someone else.
Good communication skills take patience and time to aquire.
A person skilled in communications keenly listens to the clients and customers understands their problems and queries very well and answers them very well in the language of the customers.A nurse who can explain convinsingly to a sick man why a particular unpalatable diet is very useful to get well soon is said to be good in communication.
