What is the meaning behind the lyrics in Rod Stewarts Broken Arrow?
Actually Robbie Robertson wrote and recorded that song first in 1987. It is so much better! When I heard Rod’s version I felt he butchered it! Not authentic. Robbie is Native American hence broken arrow, bottle of rain. The song is about his true love, but all he has to offer is real love not material things because of his background . He is offering her meaningful things-symbols of his undying devotion. He basically says he would do anything for her-but his culture prevents them from being together (iron walls), but he promises to break free from it to be with her. Then he finds out about another man trying to win her love, sees him going after her, can’t do anything about it, and is devastated (turning his whole world around).
