What is the MCEETYA National Consumer and Financial Literacy Framework?
Consumer and financial literacy is the application of knowledge, understandings, skills and values in consumer and financial contexts and the related decisions that impact on self, others the community and the environment. The Framework is designed to: • inform the Statements of Learning that have been agreed to by MCEETYA; • provide guidance to states and territories in the development of curricular for Years K-10; and • provide guidance to developers of support materials and the professional development of all teachers of consumer and financial literacy. The multidisciplinary framework relates also to employability skills and will assist in achieving national consistency in curriculum, resources to support that curriculum, and professional development to support teachers of consumer and financial literacy.
