What is the maximum recommended dose for clozapine?
According to the package insert, while many patients may respond adequately at doses between 300- 600mg daily, it may be necessary to raise the dose to the 600-900mg daily range to obtain an therapeutic response. Due to an increase risk of adverse effects, in particular seizures, the dose should not exceed 900mg daily and the patients should be re-evaluated to assess whether continued therapy is appropriate or whether a reduction in dose is possible.
