All R/C radios in the U.S. must not exceed .75 watts output power. Licensed HAM operators may utilize equipment up to 1 watt. Otherwise, it is against FCC regulation to increase the output beyond .75 watts. Note that most systems have noticeably less than .75 watt and still offer range far beyond the range in which a person can see his/her model aircraft.
