What is the maximum number of candidates an institution can nominate?
Each accredited, degree-granting institution in the U.S. can nominate up to two candidates. Exceptions to this limit are: • A third candidate may be nominated from any institution if at least one of the nominees is an individual from a historically disadvantaged background (ethnic, financial, or educational). • Harvard Medical School may nominate a maximum of five candidates due to its large number of affiliated research institutions and hospitals. At least two of the five nominees must be individuals from a historically disadvantaged background.
