What is the maximum length USB cable that can be used with a Nikon digital camera?
It is recommended that only the USB cable supplied with the camera be used for connection to a computer. However, the theoretical maximum length for any single USB cable is 3 to 5 meters. Extending the cable beyond this length may mean that data transfer is affected by electromagnetic disturbance. For more information see USB.org. It is possible to extend the length of USB cables with hubs up to 30 meters but only when low speed data transfer devices are used. Since many newer Nikon digital cameras transfer data at high speed, the use of hubs is neither recommended nor supported.
