What is the Maximum Distance that the jeep in the desert can cover?
At first work out the maximum possible distance could be travelled is 1200 km. Further work out for non wasting of 10 lit, so that additional 100 km distance could be achieved. On coclusion of this, details will be submitted. EDIT; After some detailed analysis, I could arrive at 1250 km, though not able to get 1300 km. The details are: DESERT PROBLEM – OPTIMISATION OF DISTANCE MOVEMENT 1. From the starting position at first travel forward a distance of 50 km; moving 10 barrels. This cause 9 trips of up & down and the final trip one up only without down movement. Thus a distance of 950 km traveled, consuming 95 lit of fuel with 5 lit of fuel in the vehicle tank. 2. From this 50 km position travel forward another 50 km, moving 8 barrels full plus one barrel of 20 lit. 8 trips of up & down and finally one up trip only.
