What is the maximum distance between stations and the central computer box (how far can they be stretched)?
We recommend stations be arranged in a pod configuration with the computer at the center and using standard monitor and USB keyboard cables. Standard monitor and keyboard cables lengths are typically 5 and 6 feet, respectively. Extension cables can, however, be purchased to increase this distance. Max USB distance: The USB specification lists a maximum distance of fifteen feet between devices, therefore if your stations need to be further than 15ft from the central computer you will need to use a USB hub or an “active” USB extension cable (a USB cable with an integrated USB hub). Technically you can have up to 5 hubs in a row yeilding a theoretical maximum distance of 75ft, however for longer distances a better and more cost effective approach is to use Userful’s KVM over CAT5 or Remote PCI over Fiber solutions. Max VGA Distance: With well sheilded VGA extension cables you can achieve distances as far as 50ft. We recomend not exceeding 25ft and just using a single extension cable if po
