What is the master plan review process?
The submittal requirements of a master plan are reviewed to determine if the development proposal is conceptually compatible with the city’s Comprehensive Plan and supporting development regulations. However, the purpose of the review is to ensure general compliance, not specific compliance, to the subdivision code, design standards or other technical development regulations. Development reviews are generally conducted by the following entities: the city’s Community Development, Public Works, Utilities, Facilities and Emergency Services departments; Las Cruces Public Schools; Bureau of Land Management; State Land Office; Elephant Butte Irrigation District and the New Mexico Department of Transportation. Upon receipt of all satisfactory review comments, the development proposal is forwarded to the city’s Development Review Committee (DRC), whose membership includes a representative from the city departments listed above.
