What is the MASCOTS Quality Improvement Project (QIP)?
The QIP is the next phase of the Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Registry Grant awarded to Michigan from the CDC. Data obtained from the registry prototype in 2002 is the springboard for the quality improvement project. The QIP is a collaborative effort between the MASCOTS project at MSU, the Michigan chapter of the American Stroke Association (ASA, a division of the American Heart Association), Michigan Dept. of Community Health, and 16 statewide hospitals. Eight of the hospitals participated in the original MASCOTS project (indicated by a * below), and 8 additional hospitals affiliated with ASA Operation Stroke sites have now joined this phase of the project.
