What is the Marine Protected Areas Inventory?
The national Marine Protected Areas Inventory (MPA Inventory) is a database of federal, state, commonwealth, territory, and tribal sites across the United States. The inventory provides regional, local, state, and federal managers, scientists, non-governmental organizations, and others with a tool to better analyze and understand management capabilities, effectiveness, and evaluation processes. It is the first step for building a list of the nation’s MPAs.
