What is the Marine Forensics Archive?

0

Specimens which have been identified and documented as authentic by a recognized expert are referred to as a “standard” or “voucher sample”. The Marine Forensics Program maintains an archive of authenticated voucher samples. Collection of the standards from whole animals by authorized experts is conducted on a continuing basis. Experts provide signed documentation verifying the species. The archive currently has over 8000 individual voucher samples representing species of marine reptiles, mammals, fish, and shellfish.
