What is the manufacturer’s responsibility when requesting a design/material/process change?
The manufacturer’s main responsibility is to make the case for any qualification by similarity that will reduce the amount of required testing. The performance properties that will remain the same should be identified along with the properties that may be impacted by the change, and should include a recommendation for what testing should be required to verify the impacted performance properties. The qualifying activity will consider the recommendation and either accept, modify, or re-work the testing program.
