The Manitoba Treaty Land Entitlement Framework Agreement was signed on May 29, 1997 by Canada, Manitoba and the Treaty Land Entitlement Committee of Manitoba Inc., on behalf of 19 Manitoba First Nations with outstanding Treaty Land Entitlements. With the creation of two new First Nations there are currently 21 First Nations that are party to this agreement. There are also four individual settlement agreements separate from the Framework Agreement in Manitoba including four Island Lake communities, Swan Lake First Nation, Roseau River First Nation and Long Plain First Nation. In addition, the Peguis First Nation will be asking its citizens to ratify a proposed TLE settlement agreement in September 2007.
