What is the mandate of the Ontario College of Teachers?
A. The Ontario College of Teachers licenses, governs and regulates Ontario’s teaching profession in the public interest. It sets standards of practice and ethical standards, conducts disciplinary hearing and accredits teacher education programs affecting its 215,000 members in publicly funded schools and institutions across Ontario. The College is the largest self-regulatory body in Canada. The College’s authority is contained in the Ontario College of Teachers Act.
